What Is OTLA?
The Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) is a non-profit association of more than 1,375 legal professionals across Ontario. Our members represent people who are injured in motor vehicle collisions, medical malpractice cases, long-term disability, sexual assault, slip & fall, products liability matters, and more.
We work to protect your access to justice and to ensure the quality of care and benefits are not eroded by changes to legislation and insurance coverage.
The association also works to promote safety in communities throughout Ontario and we partner with other organizations that have similar goals. OTLA’s Helmets on Kids program has provided more than 45,000 bike helmets to children across the province since 2002.
The OTLA Blog provides information to the public regarding current legal issues and safety concerns.
Our members provide specific legal advice to individuals in need of assistance with their cases. We invite you to use our Find an OTLA Lawyer directory to locate an OTLA lawyer in your community that best suits your needs.

Our Mission
OTLA, Ontario’s only plaintiff trial lawyers association, is dedicated to justice and fairness for those harmed by the wrongdoing of others.
In accordance with the OTLA Code, we advocate for improvements to the civil justice system and support our members by sharing knowledge and experience. OTLA educates our members to the highest standards of ethics and advocacy.
Our Vision
OTLA envisions a civil justice system that protects and promotes the rights of injured persons, equal access to justice, diversity and inclusion.
We remain the preeminent plaintiff trial lawyers organization by providing excellence in education and by fearlessly championing the causes important to our members and their clients.
