What does it mean to be a "good lawyer?" Fundamentally, it has little to do with financial success or even success in the courtroom. Being a good lawyer means being a professional lawyer.

It is the hope of the Board of Directors that the publishing of these standards will provide an opportunity for members to take a moment to step back and review their conduct. We are confident that our members will ensure that their professionalism meets and exceeds the requirements of the profession, society, and our own high standards. We hope the OTLA Code will become a valuable tool in this process of self-evaluation.
